Refunds & Cancellation Policies
All prices and fares are quoted in Euros. The rates are based on current tariffs and are subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances. While we will do everything possible to maintain the listed prices, if it is necessary to levy a surcharge, we reserve the right to do so, and notification will be given at the time of final invoicing.
Not Included in Cost: Air transportation and related activities, transportation to and from the Venue, gratuities, unless otherwise noted on the itinerary page; passport and visa expenses; baggage, accident, nor cancellation insurance; personal expenses, such as laundry, telephone calls, and alcoholic beverages not served at meals at the Venue; and any other items not specifically noted as included.
Payments, Cancellations and Refunds: To reserve space on an Activity, a €500 per-person deposit is required, payment of the deposit indicates agreement to the Terms and Conditions. Balance payments may be made by IBAN transfer, credit card, Stripe, or PayPal to a maximum amount of €5,000 per registration. A credit card or bank card convenience fee of 3.0% will be applied to balance payments. Manor & Maker may cancel your reservation if full payment has not been received by 95 days prior to departure.
€250 of the deposit is non-refundable. We strongly encourage rescheduling of your activity.
All cancellation notices must be received in writing and will become effective as of the date of the postmark (standard mail or electronic).
The success of the Activity hinges on achieving a minimum number of registrations to ensure its viability. Once this threshold is met, registered participants will be notified via email containing a link for the balance payment.
To safeguard against fraud, the payment page is hosted exclusively on Manorandmaker.com. We explicitly refrain from requesting direct payments over the phone or through alternative payment services. For any apprehensions or queries, we encourage you to contact us at admin@manorandmaker.com.
It is imperative that full payment is completed no later than 95 calendar days before the commencement of the retreat. Registrations occurring after the specified final payment date should promptly settle the balance, ensuring full payment is received before the Activity begins.
This final payment is non-refundable. Once the final payment is made, it is understood that the participant acknowledges and agrees to the non-refundable nature of this payment. In the event of cancellation or non-participation for any reason, including but not limited to personal reasons, medical issues, travel restrictions, or any other circumstances, the final payment shall not be refunded, reimbursed, or credited in any form. Participants are strongly encouraged to consider appropriate travel insurance to safeguard their investment in the event of unforeseen circumstances.
Please understand that Manor & Maker incurs non-refundable costs with vendors, suppliers, and others. Our cancellation policy reflects that. Due to our rural location travel costs by suppliers and vendors are incurred early. This policy also applies to pre- and post-trip extensions, and excursions. Any revisions made within the Cancellation Penalty Period, such as a change in departure date or choice of trip, are subject to this cancellation policy. Leaving a Manor & Maker activity in progress, for any reason whatsoever, will not result in a refund, and no refunds will be made for any unused portions of an activity. We reserve the right to cancel any Activity because of inadequate enrollment that makes the trip economically infeasible to operate or because of good-faith concerns with respect to the safety, health, or welfare of the participants. If an Activity is canceled prior to start date, Manor & Maker will provide you with a full refund of monies paid or provide a credit toward a future Manor & Maker Activity equivalent to monies paid. If we cancel the trip in progress, you will receive a prorated refund based on the number of days not completed on the tour. Manor & Maker will not be responsible for any refund for airline tickets or for any airline tickets, or transportation costs including car rentals. All refunds will be processed within 30 business days.
Travel Insurance
We strongly suggest travel insurance to protect your investment.
Travel insurance is inexpensive and can protect you by refunding monies paid if you need to cancel your trip due to an emergency or interruption, or cover travel costs if the event or stay is canceled. You may also ask for cancellation insurance in case you need to cancel. We advise that you purchase travel insurance at the time you book your reservations as you may need to cancel before you book your flights. Each insurance company has their own policies, so you should consult with your agent to see what they cover.
Catering
Refer to the itinerary for which nights you will dine at the chateau and which nights you will dine elsewhere. You will have family-style dinners at the castle when dining in, along with wine. Meals may be prepared by your hosts, or by local chefs who provide in-home catering services.
Food and wine served at the château is included in the trip cost. However, dining out during workshop and sightseeing excursions is not included. Although encouraged, guests are not required to attend the meals at the chateau and can make alternate dining reservations of their choosing. Meals at lunch restaurants typically cost around 15-20 Euros. If you would like to pack a lunch, we have plenty of lunch items at the castle at all times.
Continental breakfast is available each morning, including an assortment of fresh breads, pastries, local cheeses, yogurts, coffee, tea and fruit. On days we are away from the chateau, you may make yourself a pack lunch to go or you can buy lunch out.
Please let us know in advance if you have any dietary restrictions or food allergies.
Accommodations
All prices are based on two persons sharing a room. Rooms vary, and are assigned in the order of registration bookings and are subject to availability. We will assist persons requesting a roommate. Participants will be notified if a suitable roommate is not available.
While we aim to please and make this a stress-free experience, the chateau is more of a guesthouse experience as opposed to a full-service hotel. We do not have daily maid service, and we ask our guests to clean up after themselves. One laundry machine is available to wash clothes, and in typical European fashion – clotheslines are available for drying.
For artists' retreats, we have a staging area where we leave workshop materials, supplies and wet paintings. We provide disposable supplies such as solvent, jars, gloves, paper towels, and trash bags.
Unless otherwise agreed the rental includes bed linen and bathroom towels. Breakfast, and other catering, is provided as outlined in the workshop description. Changes of sheets and towels are available on request.
We do not have air conditioning or a pool (yet). The chateau maintains a cool temperature in the summer thanks to thick stone walls and floors, and we recommend the use of the shutters in bedrooms to maintain a lower temperature during the heat of the day.
We do not have televisions. We can connect a projector for larger shared viewings (from a connected computer). If you enjoy down-time viewing, we recommend bringing a device for internet video streaming.
Smoking and vaping (use of e-cigarette) is not permitted inside the Property. Smoking is not permitted outside or on the terrace. Vaping or use of e-cigarettes is allowed outside, including the terraces provided it does not disrupt other guests. Candles are only allowed on the dining table and under no circumstances in the bedrooms. Do not leave candles unattended.
The maximum number of people staying overnight at the property must not exceed the number agreed with us when booking. Please let us know in advance of any outside visitors who may be visiting the Property during your stay.
We have one small terrier-breed dog on-site as part of our home (less than 15 kg). Please let us know if you have allergies or other triggers related to dogs.
Language
The Manor & Maker hosts are native English speakers, and are working to improve their French, and can help with most daily transactions.
The workshop description will indicate the language in which the activity will be conducted (usually, but not exclusively French or English). Workshops facilitators will decide which language in which to conduct the workshop. No translation services are provided for workshops, and workshops will be conducted for participants fluent in the language (not slowed or repeated for those who are not fluent).
Transportation
Not Included in Cost: Air transportation and related activities, transportation to and from the Venue, gratuities, unless otherwise noted on the itinerary page; passport and visa expenses; baggage, accident, nor cancellation insurance; personal expenses, such as taxi hire or shared vehicle services like Uber; vehicle rental; and any other items not specifically noted as included.
We recommend that you arrange a car rental or car service prior to arriving if you plan to leave the property. We are located in a rural town, with a boulangerie, but no other services. If you wish to shop or go sightseeing, your own personal transport is required. Our neighbouring towns of Excideuil & Thiviers have several cafes, restaurants, and some shopping. Car rentals are widely available in Paris and Bordeaux, and also a smaller selection available in Perigueux (35km) and Limoges (80km).
Medical, Health, & Accessibility
Travelers should have a personal supply of any special medications, and for emergency preparedness, we request guests to advise us of medical conditions and medications needed. Any physical condition, diet, or treatment requiring special attention must be reported in writing when you register. The nearest hospital is in Perigueux, approximately 34 km or 35 minutes away.
Manor & Maker has no expertise or responsibility regarding what medication the traveler and their private physician should decide necessary for a safe participation in the experiences. We can only offer a best-effort accommodation for disabilities due to the age and nature of the chateau architecture. We appreciate any advance requests for accommodations for disabilities, and will keep any confidences at the request of the participant.
You must be in good physical and mental health. You must be able to maintain the pace of the group throughout the tour or workshop. Failure to participate in daily activities due to physical or mental health will not result in any refund.
All guests should be fit enough to walk unaided for at least 30 minutes, and manage stairs between floors at the chateau. You may need to manage uneven stairs and occasionally steep walkways, as we may visit historic towns and villages. All guests must be able to carry their own supplies to and from activity sites and vehicles. We always try to park as close to the activity locations as possible.
For special dietary requirements, we do our best to convey this information to restaurants and food establishments, but communication of these requirements to restaurants and food establishments is ultimately your responsibility. Please alert us at the time of registration that you have any allergies or limitations.
We wish to create an inclusive experience, and have no tolerance for abuse or threats based on any category protected under the UN Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
Manor & Maker reserves the right to refuse or remove any traveler from the Activity if we feel there is any risk to safety (with or without justification). Cancellation rates apply as above, and no refund will be given if the Activity is in progress.
Intellectual Property
We reserve the right to take photographs or videos during the operation of any Activity or part thereof and to use the resulting photography, videos, or recordings for promotional or commercial use. By making a reservation with a Manor & Maker activity, the participant agrees to allow his, her, or their likeness to be used by Manor & Maker without compensation to the participant. If the participant prefers that his, her, or their likeness not be used, he, she, or they must notify us in writing prior to the start of the Activity. Copyright in all photographs, video, and related materials created by the participant ("Materials") shall belong to the participant upon creation. The participant grants to Manor & Maker a non-exclusive, worldwide, irrevocable license to use any promotional materials Manor & Maker creates in any media for editorial use, promotion of Manor & Maker travel programs, or promotion of the mission of Manor & Maker.
If you do not wish to have your photograph used, Manor & Maker must be notified in writing no later than the beginning of the Activity.
