Getting Here

Here's some tips on getting to our bucolic corner of Dordogne.

Common Routes

Plane

  • If you are coming from outside  of Europe, you will almost certainly need to fly in to Charles de Gaulle (CDG) airport in Paris, or the main airport in Bordeaux.

  • If you are coming from UK & Europe, there are airports in Bordeaux, Limoges, Bergerac and Brive-la-Gaillarde (and others) that have good connections.

Train

  • Our close-by train stations ('gares') are Gare d'Angoulême, and Thiviers. SNCF is the major carrier, and tickets can be booked directly through their site/app. (There are other reseller sites that may have deals.)

  • If coming from Bordeaux, there is a direct train to the station of Thiviers.

  • If coming from Paris CDG, you can catch a TGV train from the airport to Gare d'Angoulême.

  • Or if you are staying in Paris for a few days first you can catch trains from multiple stations.

  • It's easiest to download the SNCF app and enter your departure address (airport code or hotel address) and destination (e.g. Gare d'Angoulême) to get the best route for you.

Automobile

  • If you are renting a car, there are options in Paris (5hrs drive), Bordeaux (2hrs), Angoulême (1.5hr) Limoges (1hr), and Perigueux (30min, the local capital). Expect tolls when driving from Paris or Bordeaux

  • Google Maps location is shown below, plus the address you can enter in any other navigation system
